Antergos NeXT 2026.08.11 "Xeitoso"

Second release. First was 07.11 — this one is what we found while actually living with it.

It is 23:55. I am one person. This shipped today. Please be patient with me.

Artix Linux, dinit, KDE Plasma, Calamares. You know the drill.

What got fixed

KDE wasn't installing (fixes #14)

Caught by @FredBezies. Both the DE and DM choosers were fighting over the same netinstall queue and the DM one always won, so Plasma just never made it through. Had to patch Calamares itself to make each chooser mind its own business — that's now Calamares 3.4.2-w0k3. KDE installs now. Sorry about that one.

Live session wasn't booting

A sed command was eating the wrong line and killing the dinit service on parse. Anchored. It boots.

Clock was wrong by 2 hours (fixes #13)

Caught by @FredBezies. ntp wasn't installed or running after install so the clock just drifted. Added ntp-dinit to the default packages and enabled ntpd. Clock is fine now.

COSMIC crashing the displaymanager module

Calamares didn't know what start-cosmic was, so greetd setup would crash if you picked COSMIC. Added the detection. It doesn't crash anymore.

What's new

• Offline installer added (antergos-offline-install)
• DM selector got reworked — screenshots for every DM now, new branding slideshow, pick your init during install
• LightDM now ships with slick-greeter and a proper config out of the box (antergos-lightdm-config)
• Filesystem tools now in the default group: btrfs-progs, xfsprogs, f2fs-tools, snapper

Cleanup

• Dropped antergos-plasma-theme, Layan handles everything now
• Dead calamares configs removed, docs overhauled, community standards added

A note on other desktop environments

Only KDE Plasma was tested this release. Xfce, Cinnamon, MATE, LXQt, i3, Sway, Hyprland and COSMIC are in the installer but I cannot promise they work. If you test one and it breaks, open an issue. If you test one and it works, also open an issue so I know.
