Crashing on tvOS 26.2

Hi @Exaphis,

I've been using muTube on my Apple TV and it was working great until recently. The app stopped working (crashes on launch), likely because YouTube 4.50.03 has been blocked by Google.

I've set up the complete build environment on my Mac:

• insert_dylib ✅
• Frida tools ✅
• muTube repo cloned ✅

However, I'm stuck because I cannot obtain a decrypted YouTube tvOS 4.51.08 IPA:

• My Apple TV runs tvOS 26.2 (no jailbreak available)
• Signulous requires device linking (I'm already an Apple Developer)
• No decrypt services offer tvOS apps

My question:
Would it be possible to either:

1. Share a pre-built muTube.ipa, or
2. Share the decrypted YouTube tvOS 4.51.08 IPA so I can build it myself?

I understand if this isn't possible due to legal concerns. Any guidance would be appreciated!

Thanks for the IPA! Unfortunately it still crashes on launch on tvOS 26.2 - the app flashes briefly and then closes.

Is tvOS 26 supported? Could there be an issue with Frida injection on newer tvOS versions?

Hmm, that is strange. I am using this just fine on tvOS 26.2.

How are you sideloading the IPA?

Sideloadly, other apps works fine. yesterday the app worked perfectly, today it went crashing, so trying to update the app.

Interesting, thanks. To help you debug, I've uploaded the decrypted 4.51.08 IPA I used to build here: https://files.catbox.moe/pexebr.ipa

You can try building it yourself and seeing if it crashes then. If it still does, the next step would be fiddling with the Frida config (code_signing=optional vs. required, pausing for connection before script injection to see Frida logs - see https://github.com/Exaphis/mutube/blob/2ffb4b3ed7a0c0911afbcd14d6abeac1c9353426/script_config.json).

I can share some more detailed instructions later in the day today if helpful for debugging.

I feel like a lot of the crashing issues are due to Frida (e.g., the tvOS 26 upgrade) so I want to get rid of it in the long term. I just need to spend some more time figuring out how to patch the binary correctly...

Still crashes with code_signing: optional.

I built muTube myself using your decrypted IPA and the build succeeded, but it still crashes on launch.

Setup:

• Built with make on macOS 13.7.6 (Intel Mac)
• Frida 17.3.0
• code_signing set to "optional"
• Sideloaded via Sideloadly with Apple Developer account

Since the decrypted YouTube works fine and Yattee works fine, but muTube crashes - the issue must be Frida + Sideloadly signing.

What signing method do you use? Sideloadly, Xcode, or something else?

Maybe I should try signing with Xcode directly instead of Sideloadly?

Apologies, I should've elaborated. Running with optional code signing is expected to crash like that if not started with a debugger - see https://mas.owasp.org/MASTG/techniques/ios/MASTG-TECH-0055/#ios-17-and-newer

(Note I couldn't get lldb to work but the Xcode GUI debugger works fine.)

Another thing to check is to remove everything from main.js (keep code signing required) and see if it still crashes. That would help isolate my code vs. Frida itself.

My Mac is too old for newer Xcode, so I can't debug on tvOS 26.

Is there a way to configure Frida Gadget to not require a debugger at launch?
Or could you build a version that works without debugger attachment?

You mentioned wanting to get rid of Frida - do you have an ETA on that?

Ah, that's unfortunate. AFAIK the only way to avoid requiring a debugger is to have code signing as required. However, you can still test with that and removing everything from main.js.

No ETA on that since I thought it was more of a nice to have and wasn't aware of outstanding crashing issues. I'll see what progress I can make in the next few days.

@Exaphis Thank you! Without Frida, is working as expected in 4K resolution. No more stuttering.
