Action Performed:

1. Go to staging.new.expensify.com
2. Go to workspace chat
3. Create a task in the workspace chat
4. Mark the task as complete
5. Go to Reports > Chats
6. Click Type:Chat
7. Select Task and click Apply

Expected Result:

App will not crash

Actual Result:

App crashes when selecting Task filter and clicking Apply

Proposal

Please re-state the problem that we are trying to solve in this issue.

App crashes after filtering by task in search page.

What is the root cause of that problem?

The BE is not sending a description for the task and our code assumes it always will at least have an empty string (This happen even when the task does have a description).

What changes do you think we should make in order to solve the problem?

Send the task description from the BE.

We could also make sure we use an empty string as a fallback.

IMO, this should be fixed on the BE, we can make the FE more resilient with the code above, but still not a FE issue.
