Action Performed:

1. Sign in to ND
2. Create a workspace
3. Create a scan expense in the workspace chat with a valid non-zero receipt, wait until the scanning is completed
4. Navigate to the workspace chat, click on the expense preview to open the details
5. Observe the message in the LHN on the report thread

Expected Result:

The correct amount is shown in the LHN on the report thread with a scan expense

Actual Result:

"$0.00 expense" is shown on the report thread in LHN after creating a scan expense in the workspace

Please re-state the problem that we are trying to solve in this issue.

After creating a scan expense in a workspace chat, the report thread in the LHN shows the preview text as “$0.00 expense” even once SmartScan completes and the expense has a non‑zero amount.

What is the root cause of that problem?

The backend-created IOU reportAction message is generated with an initial placeholder amount (often 0) and can remain stale (e.g. “RON 0.00 expense”) even after SmartScan updates the transaction with modifiedAmount/modifiedCurrency and/or convertedAmount.
The LHN preview was relying on that stale action text (or action hydration timing) instead of deriving the preview from the updated transaction/report values.

What changes do you think we should make in order to solve the problem?

When SmartScan is complete and the linked transaction already has a non-zero scanned amount, compute the LHN preview directly from transaction/report data:
Prefer displaying in the report currency using transaction.convertedAmount (or fallback to abs(report.total)), otherwise use the transaction amount/currency.
Avoid depending on the IOU action message text for scan-expense previews in LHN, since it can remain “0.00”.
