Action Performed:

1. Go to staging.new.expensify.com
2. Go to workspace chat.
3. Send the message.
4. Resize screen to narrow (skip this step on narrow screen such as mweb and native apps).
5. Right click on the message > Edit message.

Expected Result:

Save changes button will be shown on the edit composer.

Actual Result:

Send button is shown on the composer instead of Save changes.

Detailed Analysis

Evidence

• The issue is only reproducible on staging (version 9.3.73-0), not on production, confirming it was introduced in this staging cycle.

Verification

Affected files confirmed modified by PR #76741:

Root Cause

In the new ComposerSendButton.tsx, isEditingInComposer from useComposerEditState() is used to set the accessibility label to "Save changes", but the visible SubmitDraftButton is always rendered with label={translate('common.send')} regardless of edit state. The isEditingInComposer flag only affects the invisible accessibility label, not the visible button text/icon that users see.

Additionally, isEditingInComposer in ComposerProvider.tsx is computed as:

const isEditingInComposer = shouldUseNarrowLayout && editingState !== 'off' && !didResetComposerHeight;

This means:

1. On a wide screen layout where the user right-clicks to edit, shouldUseNarrowLayout is false, so isEditingInComposer is false — the composer stays in Send mode rather than Save changes mode.
2. Even on narrow screen (after resizing), the Save changes label is only applied to the accessibility label but the visible button label always says "Send".

The fix is in the App — either revert the PR or patch ComposerSendButton.tsx to pass the correct label to SubmitDraftButton when isEditingInComposer is true, and ensure ComposerEditingButtons is shown on wide-screen edits as well.
