Feature Request: Execution Log Capability
Summary
Add an execution log feature to OpenSpec that captures key execution records throughout the spec workflow.
Description
Introduce a lightweight logging mechanism that records significant events and decisions at each stage of the OpenSpec process.
Key Characteristics
Non-archival: Execution logs should NOT be persisted into the final spec document
Contextual capture: Logs preserve valuable discussion context that would otherwise be lost in ephemeral conversations
Discussion enabler: Provides a reference trail that facilitates more informed follow-up discussions and reviews
Use Case
During spec development, many important decisions, explorations, and reasoning happen in conversation. Currently, these insights vanish once the conversation ends. An execution log would capture this context
without cluttering the spec itself—making it easier to revisit why certain decisions were made during subsequent discussions or handoffs.
