Desktop app updater not working reliably #7056

Description

@erikdju

Can we access your project?

  • I give permission for members of the FlutterFlow team to access and test my project for the sole purpose of investigating this issue.

Current Behavior

When launching a project in the desktop app (macOS) and a new update to FlutterFlow is available, a modal window appears ("Use Latest FlutterFlow!"). Clicking the Download button does nothing, forcing me to manually download the updated app binary from the FlutterFlow website. I've experienced the app updater window appear correctly once in the past couple of months.

Expected Behavior

Clicking the Download button should download and install the new update.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Launch project when a new update to the FF desktop app is available.
  2. Click Download in the modal window that appears, notifying you about the new update.

Reproducible from Blank

  • The steps to reproduce above start from a blank project.
