Describe the bug

On every boot, the system pauses for approximately 20 seconds and displays a firmware warning indicating that both the ANSI keyboard and numpad firmware are outdated.

The system expects firmware version 2.0.16, while both modules are currently on 1.9.13.

There is no available update path via fwupd, and the keyboard and numpad do not appear as updatable devices.

1. Power on the laptop
2. Observe POST/boot process
3. Firmware warning appears stating keyboard and numpad are outdated
4. System delays ~30 seconds before continuing boot

• System should either:

  • Provide a valid firmware update path via fwupd
  • OR not enforce a firmware version that cannot be updated

• Boot should proceed without delay or firmware warning

Keyboard and numpad are detected at USB level:

Full diagnostic output:

• fwupd version: 1.9.34

• LVFS and lvfs-testing both enabled and refreshed

• fwupdmgr get-devices --show-all-devices:

  • Does NOT list keyboard or numpad as updatable devices

• fwupdmgr get-updates:

  • No updates available for input modules

• Manual install attempt:

  • fwupdmgr local-install framework_ansi_0.31.cab
  • Result: “No supported devices found”

• EC reset performed (40-second power hold, no charger)

• Keyboard and numpad modules reseated

• Expansion cards removed during reset

• No change in behavior

Conclusion

There is a firmware mismatch where:

• BIOS expects firmware version 2.0.16
• Input modules are currently on 1.9.13
• fwupd does not expose these modules
• No update path exists via LVFS (stable or testing)

2. The correct method to update these modules if not via fwupd, OR
3. Confirmation if this is a known issue affecting certain module revisions
