This is one of the most complete updates so far! Many new features, graphical improvements, and optimizations were added to deliver a more immersive experience — even with the limitations of Pygame.

✨ New Additions

  • 🔥 New map with a redesigned structure;
  • 🏠 House structures added (entering houses is not yet implemented);
  • 🧟‍♂️ Boss battle system implemented;
  • 💾 Improved chunk system to reduce RAM usage;
  • Loading screen before the game starts, improving immersion;
  • 🎨 New sprites added (credits to Nathan-Nando22);
  • ⚙️ New options in the settings menu:
    • Graphic quality adjustment;
    • Sound volume control;
  • 🌬️ Wind system added for better atmosphere;
  • 🌧️ Rain system with falling droplet particles for enhanced visuals.

📊 Performance Boost with SDL2 Backend

With the new SDL2 backend via Pygame Community Edition, the game now uses GPU acceleration — dramatically improving performance across all areas. Here's a summary of the benchmark results comparing the old and new engine:

🔧 Why this matters:
This update marks a major milestone in Eldoria's development. The integration of SDL2.0 via Pygame-CE allows the game to finally leverage GPU acceleration, both on dedicated and integrated GPUs. That means smoother performance, better visual effects, and significantly less load on the CPU — making Eldoria accessible and enjoyable on a much broader range of systems.

  • 🧠 The internal game system was restructured and improved, leading to smoother performance and better resource handling.
  • 🧹 Better memory management and garbage collection handling to prevent RAM spikes.

This version introduces a lot of new features. Optimizing everything within Pygame’s limitations was quite a challenge, so I apologize in advance for any possible bugs, lag, or stuttering.
