sidebar focus line background?

[farangkao]

first ,great tool, love it so far.

One small issue is when i switch to the Sidebar, the currently selected line (or item) is hard to see.

is this just my skin, or should be at least the background be colored differently so i can see when i move up/down which is selected?

maybe i miss some setting ,or configured it wrongly? :)

Thanks @farangkao, glad you're enjoying it! It isn't your setup. When the rail has the keyboard, the row under the cursor is marked only by a slightly lighter background, and with a see-through terminal and background = "off" like yours that step almost vanishes into the wallpaper. Setting appearance.sidebar.background = "theme" makes the rail solid, and the cursor row reads much better. The real fix is on me though: the cursor shouldn't rely on the background alone. I'll give it a mark of its own so it's clear on any background, and I'll update here when it's in.

thanks for the tip, setting background = "theme" didn't help.
also this changes the general background, what is missing a way to control the focused background color (with my current setup it seems to be black)

This however led me to a solution that kinda works:

But it would be nice if we can control the focused background as well 👍

Another thing i noticed while testing TUIOS, it seems nerdfonts get automatically stripped from workspace or session titles.
even when set through the cli command:

Note, this is not a deal breaker ,but something i really like to customize my current herdr setup.

Example:

If this goes against the idea of this tool, i understand, if it's just an oversight, you might want to support it in the future 👍

Thanks for trying that @farangkao, and for the screenshots. The cursor fix is on main now and will be in the next release: the cursor row keeps its background, but its text is also bold and underlined in the accent colour, so it shows up even on a see-through terminal.

A setting for the cursor row's background colour makes sense too, and so do nerd font icons in session and workspace names. Neither is meant to be blocked, so I'll look at both and report back here.

@farangkao both are on main now and will be in v0.11.0:

Cursor row colour: set it yourself with

[appearance.sidebar]
cursor_background = "#3b4252"

It takes a hex colour, an ANSI number or a theme role, and it applies when you save the config, no restart needed. The cursor row text stays bold and underlined too, so pick a colour your text reads well on.

Nerd font icons in names: session, workspace and pane names keep their icons now, whether you set them with tuios rename-session, tuios set-workspace-name or the rename editor. tuios only drops them under --ascii-only or on a terminal without the glyphs, like the Linux console.

Thanks for the push on both, your herdr setup should carry over nicely now.
