Announcing Publii v0.48.0 Release!

Hi everyone!

Publii v0.48.0 is now available! This release includes several major additions:

• Multiple website windows: Work on different websites at the same time, with a choice of interface colours to help tell their windows apart.
• Rebuilt WordPress importer: Import navigation menus and supported SEO data alongside your content, with detailed import reports and a redirect map.
• Local preview server: Preview your website over HTTP instead of file:/// addresses, resolving local-file restrictions that affected scripts and embedded videos, including YouTube.
• AVIF image conversion: Convert images to AVIF, with controls for quality and compression.
• Editor improvements: HugeRTE replaces TinyMCE, the Block Editor gains a Table block, and inline editing fields get more formatting and linking options.

We've also rebuilt the menu editor, redesigned context menus, given Plugins their own sidebar screen, and improved file and theme management, keyboard accessibility and more.

I'm glad that the HugeRTE editor is compatible with the Template Plugin and other toolbar mods.

Issues

Website Sync not working

Unfortunately, I'm facing serious issues with the website sync (Netlify) on this latest version. I upgraded the Publii app and updated my Umami plugin. When I tried to sync to my live website, the sync process took 10+ mins before I cancelled it, did an endless loop animation of "Website synchronisation", and when I minimized the window, the bar never progressed. Website syncs usually take me a few seconds.

I tried to disable Umami in case that's what was causing issues, but it didn't help.

Preview Rendering Issues

I'm not sure if there's an option to continue using the file:// method to preview sites instead of the new server method, but I'd prefer it if so. I've tried previewing a number of my sites, and ran into a host of issues (namely with resources not loading). These issues don't seem to happen on all my sites, but they weren't an issue before:

1. CSS file not loading

The style.css seems to be fetched according to the Network tab of dev tools, but when I double click on the file, it says "Forbidden". As such, it causes the page to appeared unstyled:

2. Custom font files not loading

This website has a custom font that was added according to the docs, but is being marked as Not Found in dev tools:

Meanwhile the same URL scheme (/assets/dynamic/fonts/syne/syne.woff2) on my live site fetches the font file just fine.

For reference, the font should look like this:

Because of this, I'll have to revert to the previous version of Publii for now.
