This commit allows expansion strings to be escaped to prevent expansion. Documentation and tests are added for this as well.

This merge allows expansion characters (currently
{and}) to be escaped (with\) to prevent expansion which can be useful for some nested workflows.Tests and documentation are updated for this as well.
