Growthcraft Cellar

Growthcraft Cellar is a mod which adds a new in-game hobby: brewing alcoholic beverages.

Alcoholic beverage or "Booze" is a new type of item introduced by Growthcraft Cellar. It is a somewhat combination of food and potion, it gives magical potion effects while restoring hunger points. Take note though that it will only restore hunger points (the "meat shanks" you see in your health bar) but not saturation points (invisible player value). It will decrease your saturation points instead, meaning that the more you drink the alcoholic beverage, the more hungry you get in the long run.

In addition to these effects, alcoholic beverages also gives a Tipsy potion effect, more info in the following sub-chapter.

Brewing alcoholic beverages is a new hobby in-game. Unlike in-game crafting (smelting, brewing, etc.), brewing boozes are divided into parts before actually getting the desired product. It increases challenge but still retaining simplicity.

Tipsy

tipsy.png Tipsy is a potion effect which will represent the 'level' of drunk-ness of the player.

Tipsy is achieved in chance (depending on the type of booze) and increases its level by chance. There are four levels of tipsy. Each have varying durations and effects on the player.

At Tipsy I and Tipsy II, not observable effects are made. Tipsy I lasts for 2 minutes and 30 seconds while Tipsy II lasts for 5 minutes and 37.5 seconds. Continued drinking will raise the level of Tipsy furthermore into levels which are not recommended for adventuring. At Tipsy III, swirling of the screen will be observed and will last for 10 minutes. In addition to swirling of the screen, blindness will also happen at Tipsy IV. Tipsy IV lasts for 20 minutes (or half-Minecraft day).

Tipsy IV is the max level for Tipsy and will not raise up anymore.

Fruit Press

blockFruitPress.png Fruit Press is a utility block which is a part in the brewing process. It is used to extract juices from fruits.

Usage and Behavior

A fruit press is composed of two blocks (much like a door), the upper part and the lower part. The upper part represents the pressing mechanism while the lower part represents the pressing slats and the liquid container.

To make the fruit press functional, the upper part must be powered by redstone. This can be achieved by either supplying it with a redstone current or by placing adding a lever on the long wooden bars at the sides of the fruit press.

Once powered, proceed to opening the GUI of the fruit press by right-clicking the bottom part:

Slots (From left to right:)

Red - Raw / Input slot Green - Liquid / Output slot Blue - Byproduct slot

Buttons

X - Discards the contents of the liquid slot

It functions the same way as a Furnace. Once the input slot is filled and the press' powered, it will start pressing one item at a time, slowly filling the liquid slot until its maximum capacity (1000 mB). Every item pressed will also add up into an invisible byproduct counter. If the counter reaches its limit (1.0), it will create a bonemeal in the byproduct slot and then resets the counter again.

Empty buckets and glass bottles can be used to retrieve the liquid contents of the output slot provided that the liquid amount is equal to 1000 or greater than or equal to 333, respectively.

Brew Kettle

blockBrewKettle.png Brew Kettle is a utility block which is a part in the brewing process. It is used to combine grains with a source liquid (commonly water) to produce wort.

Crafting

craft_brewKettle.png

Usage and Behavior

Compared to the fruit press, the brew kettle is more complicated in terms of the recipes it utilizes. To start the mashing process, the brew kettle must have fire beneath it (netherrack + fire for a makeshift stove).

Right-clicking the brew kettle will bring about its GUI:

Slots (From left to right:)

Red - Raw / Input liquid slot Green - Raw / Input item slot Blue - Liquid / Output slot Yellow - Byproduct slot

Buttons

X - Discards the contents of the liquid slot adjacent to it < - Switches the two fluid bars.

It works the same way as the fruit press, but only needing one additional input (a liquid). Right-clicking the brew kettle while holding a fluid container will fill the liquid input slot. Once both the input slots is filled and a fire source is present, it will start the mashing process, slowly filling the output slot until its max capacity (1000 mb). Every item brewed will also add up into an invisible byproduct counter.

Fermenting Barrel

blockFermentBarrel.png The Fermenting Barrel is a utility block and the final part of the brewing process. It is used to ferment young boozes into matured boozes which have potion effects. It is also used to lengthen or strengthen the potion effect.

Crafting

craft_fermentBarrel_new.png

Usage and Behavior

The fermenting barrel acts the same way as the vanilla brewing stand, only through liquid slots rather than potion bottles.

Right-clicking the fermenting barrel will yield its GUI:

Slots (From left to right:)

Red - Ingredient/Input slot (Netherwart, Redstone, or Glowstone dust) Green - Liquid slot, max capacity of 3000 mB.

Buttons

X - Discards the contents of the liquid slot.

The bubbles and the upwards-pointing arrow at the left represent the fermenting progress, which lasts for one Minecraft day (approximately 20 minutes). The item icons at the right indicates if the booze is matured or young, and if it has a glowstone (strength) or redstone (length) modifier.

Right-clicking the barrel with a fluid container will fill/drain the barrel.

Only boozes with Young, Fermented, Extended, and Potent modifiers can be fermented on the barrel. Extended and Potent boozes can cancel each others' effects by fermenting it with the opposite ingredient.

Brewer

brewer.png The Brewer is a villager which sells booze for emeralds. It spawns alongside its Tavern.
