As we move toward version 1.0, I think it might be a good time to consider a new logo for Open CAD Studio. If you have design skills or simply have a cool idea for an OCS logo, feel free to create something and share it here! There are no strict requirements at this point — different concepts, styles, and ideas are welcome.

If we find something that fits OCS well, I'd be happy to use it as the official logo.

Thought of origami as a motif as it has an open-source attitude to it but also because of the geometric elements that hint towards CAD. For now thought of a bird, as it's a symbol of freedom. Was thinking of a symbol without letters that is easily visible as a small icon in the taskbar. It's a first attempt that can be refined both in shapes and colors, of course.

My idea is to create a logo that represents three core values: community, CAD technology, and freedom. The “O” is formed by people holding hands, symbolizing connection and collective strength; the “C” represents CAD through precise geometric forms; and the lowercase “s” flows into a wing, expressing freedom, creativity, and limitless possibilities.

Just like in a hive, where every small contribution helps create something much greater, every idea, line of code, test, report, or collaboration helps the software grow and improve.

It also reminds us of the essential role bees play in nature and the importance of protecting them.

I think we can adjust the background color block to create a square layout without compromising the aesthetic value of the concept.

Of course, it can be a one name without CAD in it as well (as Blender) but I think pragmatically, that people are so used of this name formula that they understand in a second what it is about without even starting the program. This goes hands in hand also with the core of the application which still sticks with conventional drawing commands not because these are the most efficient, but because people are so used to them that it's the only way out to take them from the AutoCAD cave.

In designing this logo, I sought to simplify concepts familiar to most users—such as "open-source software" and "CAD software"—while giving it an identity based on Open Cad Studio's color scheme. I hope you like the logo.

Here is a small contribution regarding the logo. I created it using the tools available in OCS, though I eventually settled on a solid hatch color; I had originally wanted to use a gradient, but that feature isn't available yet, so I used another CAD program to add the hatch color. I hope this serves as inspiration for the OCS developers. I believe OCS will become a reliable CAD tool, as I have tried other free CAD software before.
