At the moment we have a separate encoder entry for each bit depth, and it's cluttering the encoder list quite a bit. Now that the pipeline supports different chroma subsampling values it could be a good time to rethink how expose these settings.
Some video coding formats have specific profiles for specific depth and chroma (for example HEVC), others can do different depth and chroma using the same profile (AV1).
Possible solutions:
- Depth selection, chroma subsampling selection, profile selection.
- A combined depth and chroma subsampling selection, and a profile selection.
- A single profile selection UI with all the possible combination, resulting in maybe ~ 14 selectable options.
Eventually a "Same as source" option for each of these settings to use the source depth and chroma.
