Unclear on setting areas

In the previous version, I understood how to set the parameters for each area and retrieve the Entity ID to use in the dashboard and automations.

kitchen.. choosing devices.. setting priority.. etc.. and view the entity ID
etc

With this version, I know how to modify the area parameters, but I can only find the Entity ID for the main item

Mainly looking for the probability graphs to determine the thresholds to use for each area.

My last screenshot shows the graph listed as "All Areas" but the very top shows.. Kitchen >> All Areas

Ah do you only have the all areas device? It seems that way in the screenshots, looks like the migration from previous version didn't work properly. Remove the entry delete area_occupany.db from the .storage folder and then setup the integration again. Sorry this is the solution. It was tough to migrate because of the backend changes needed in 2025.12.0

Once done you will see a device for each area, so you will have one called All Areas and one called Kitchen for example. That should then make a lot more sense. I've updated the install guide for the latest version as well Installation

i wiped the file and restarted Hass.

clicked 'Add device' to create the first item
I created a single item called Bedroom and the next screen shows the following so I choose Bedroom for each

Manage Areas shows

The probability shows up for Bedroom

I then added Kitchen and Manage shows the first one.. not named Bedroom as well as the new Kitchen

Searching for prob still shows on the first items

Pardon me if I'm mistaking your question, the new release uses HAOS areas.

Areas need to be defined in HAOS, appears you have areas as bedroom screenshot shows one.

"Click the gear to right of Area Occupancy Detection", add new already defined area, dropdown displays your areas, choose area, living room, kitchen etc., fill in the blanks as usual.

The only area that shows any entity IDs is the first area I create.

When I add additional areas.. using the gear icon and then 'add area', they show up when I click 'manage area' but there are no additional entity IDs.

To the right of the gear, click the three dots, reload integration.

My new ones and I just tested it, appear in the list after I do that.

Try that.

I think, but dont know, that its similar to frontend reload, just fiddling around now adding and deleting new areas, checking entities, reload disappeared, and the integration said it failed.

Restart fixed that fail, may be db related, I have no idea, but @Hankanman might know.

it seems it was a combination of not understanding what to do on the 'Devices created' screen and not hitting the reload button.

Once I create my First entry, I needed to click Finish Setup

then I click 'Skip and Finish'

I was changing the area to Bedroom for both entries. I thought this was required since Bedroom was my first entry.

When I click 'Reload' I see the Kitchen entry.

and searching for 'probab' shows entries for all items

I just noticed the following

On the main screen, it shows 'Area Occupancy Detection' and 'Bedroom'

But in 'Manage Areas', Bedroom is missing

There seems to be something weird about the 'Area Occupancy Detection'

I added a new Bedroom entry AND deleted the 'Area Occupance Detection' area

Now I see Bedroom but when I go to 'Manage Areas', the Bedroom is missing

I then did a rig.
I renamed the existing 'Bedroom' to 'remove'
Then created a new 'Bedroom'
It shows 'Bedroom' and 'remove'
But now in 'Manage Areas' I see the 'Bedroom' entry and now all the metrics are showing up correct.

Did you reload after the deletion and the new entry?

Here are a couple of my screenshots.

I'm strictly using Android either phone or tablet when I'm editing etc.

All Areas is automatically created I think. Pulls data from all user areas.

All other areas are mine.

Every change probably needs a reload. If the integration says it failed ever, which happened once to me, an HAOS restart fixed it.

Resolved in release 2025.12.4 please let me know if the issue persists.

I found a bug that does name devices incorrectly when setting up from fresh it would run the migration, which it shouldn't do and resulted in the wrong names being applied @surge919 i would reccomend updating then recreating the integration.

I'm still unable to remove the item I renamed to 'Remove'

here's what I did

in the UI, I clicked Delete

then I deleted

area_occupancy.db

restarted HASS
(i also tried to stop HASS, delete area_occupancy.db and start HASS)

The integration now shows no areas so I set it up and add 'Kitchen'

Devices created shows 'Kitchen' but still shows 'Remove'

Is the 'Remove' entry stored somewhere else besides area_occupancy.db ?

That's looks like this. 4 entities instead of the typical 6.

When you configure your first area, the integration automatically creates an "All Areas" device that aggregates occupancy data across all configured areas. This provides a unified view of occupancy across your entire home or selected areas.

update.. i deleted the entry for "remove" in the .storage folder and file 'core.entity_registry'

once I restarted, 'remove' no longer shows up.
Not sure if this is the correct way to accomplish this, but it seems to have worked
