Can I do a PR for just this file?

file via app and I want more of these, so can I do a pr and add more in there, will that get accepted?

Depends on what you want exactly, but without knowing details I'd say I'll most likely accept it. I never bothered with those emoticons and just left them at the state that came from OpenBoard.

Just be aware that it might take a while until I'm working on the PR.

I did it and then build the apk using your debug build workflow to check if it works and looks fine, but no luck it's doesn't look correct:

They are severely overlapping T~T
probably because it's using a fixed grid size on emoji page to display emoji.
I know this is kinda niche, but if you have time can you can you make it so it displays emoticons properly?
Either make the Emoticons page use json like other layouts, or based on the number of character you can leave some amount of grid cells empty based on the emoticon it's displaying.

(disclosure: Since I don't know/understand much of the code, so I used claude to understand why is this happening, only that, I edited the EMOTICONS.txt myself while searching for some new ones online on reddit and wikipedia.)
