Getting the latest Valence is now clearer and tidier.

What's new

• You'll know when an update is ready. With "check on startup" turned on, Valence now tells you the moment a new version is available — the prompt actually appears on launch instead of staying silent.
• Watch it arrive. When you install an update, a little robot trots off to the web and carries the new version back, with live progress — no more wondering whether anything's happening.
• Tidier downloads. Valence now cleans up old installer files on startup, so updates don't quietly leave gigabytes of leftovers on your disk.

Two of Valence's most useful tools — Lens and X-Ray — get a calmer, roomier home.

What's new

• Lens, one tap away. A new lens button sits right next to your model. Tap it to open a window of perspectives — Tutor, Skeptic, Concise, and more — and choose how the AI approaches your next message. The active lens glows in its own color, and the lens button gently pulses so you always know one's on. Create and edit your own custom lenses right there.
• X-Ray, front and center. Tap X-Ray on any reply and it opens as a full, roomy panel over your workspace — the lens, system prompt, memories, knowledge, abilities, and token cost behind that exact response, all in one place. No more cramped side strip.
• A calmer canvas. Lens and X-Ray used to live in side panels that squeezed your chat. They're now clean overlays that appear when you want them and tuck away when you don't — same features, more room to think.

Fixes

• Creating a custom lens now opens the editor reliably.

Local AI now runs on more hardware, you can buy in one click, and smarter defaults mean less setup.

What's new

• Local AI now runs on AMD and Intel GPUs — not just NVIDIA. Valence detects your graphics hardware and picks the right acceleration — NVIDIA via CUDA, AMD and Intel via Vulkan — and falls back to your CPU when there's no compatible GPU. It also tells you which one it's using, so nothing's a mystery. (SEQ-1247)
• Buy Valence in one click — purchase a license directly from the app, no detour through the website. (IMP-1640)
• Smarter defaults, less setup — local memory and file chunking are on out of the box, and Valence opens as a normal, right-sized window (no longer always-on-top). (IMP-1641 / IMP-1643 / IMP-1642 / SEQ-1250)
• Your model's ready when setup finishes — the local model you download during setup is now selected automatically. (SEQ-1249)
• You won't miss an update — when a new version is ready, Valence asks you front-and-center whether to download it now. (IMP-1645)

A round of polish across the interface, plus a friendlier first run and a batch of local-AI fixes.

What's new

• AI Providers, reimagined. Every provider — local, cloud, and enterprise — now lives in one calm, unified list, with the local model leading on an at-a-glance read of how it'll run on your machine.
• A cleaner menu. Reorganized into clear sections — Conversation, Export & Share, Tools — with a tidy "More options" expander.
• Edit Profile, redesigned. A clearer layout grouping personality, model & knowledge, and privacy, with deployment posture (Standard / Business) under Advanced.
• Smarter local-model downloads. Real-time progress, downloads keep running if you leave Settings, and a clear note that you can keep using Valence while they finish.
• A friendlier first run. The setup wizard tells you, in plain language, how well a local model will run on your hardware before you download it.

Fixes

• Ollama now lists the models you've actually installed — and tells you clearly when Ollama isn't running — instead of a generic placeholder list. (SEQ-1242)
• Local AI models give clear guidance when your NVIDIA graphics driver is too old to run them, so you can update instead of hitting a confusing error. (SEQ-1243)
• Removed a stray "add an API key" prompt that appeared for local models, which don't need one. (SEQ-1244)
• AI replies show the time they actually arrived, in a consistent 12-hour format. (SEQ-1231/1232)
• Model names are consistent between the setup wizard and Settings. (SEQ-1229)
• Parent dashboard: the "Scan now" button is no longer hidden behind "Lock dashboard." (SEQ-1235)
• Fixed the support email used by the in-app bug reporter.

What's fixed in 1.0.1

This is a packaging fix for 1.0.0. The 1.0.0 installer did not include a number
of application files, which left parts of the interface failing to load (the
first-run setup screen, backgrounds, fonts, and several panels). 1.0.1 ships the
complete application. If you installed 1.0.0, please install 1.0.1 over it.
