Part 1: Prepare a custom user for LiveReview to use

Part 1.1: Create a User starting with LiveReview (ex: LiveReviewBot or LiveReview1914)

If you're the admin - one way to create a user is via the Admin area (see below for steps). There are other methods to do it in the Gitlab Docs as well.

Create a user in the Admin area

Prerequisites:

• You must be an administrator for the instance.

To create a user:

1. On the left sidebar, at the bottom, select Admin.
2. Select Overview > Users.
3. Select New user.
4. In the Account section, enter the required account information.
5. Optional. In the Access section, configure any project limits or user type settings.
6. Select Create user.

GitLab sends an email to the user with a sign-in link, and the user must create a password when they first sign in. You can also directly set a password for the user.

If you created a regular user - you may see that they don't have any group/project access:

Part 1.2: Provide access to relevant groups/projects to the new user

You can manually goto the appropriate projects/groups and add the new user as a member:

And give them at least developer/maintainer permission:

Now in admin area - you can see the access:

Part 1.3: Get a PAT Token

The next step is to acquire a PAT token for the new user (so that LiveReview can act on this new user's behalf)

One option - if you're an admin is to impersonate as the new user:

If you can't do that - just login as the new user with email/password.

Then Goto: User profile icon -> Preferences -> Access Tokens -> Add New Token

Then give it the following permissions and create a new PAT token:

Copy the PAT token to memory.
