Some people will definitely think this is unnecessary. But I believe that a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step—or, as the saying goes, without accumulating small streams, one cannot form rivers and seas. Right now, most of the text is AIGC—I’m not blaming our friend Hmbown for this. He’s already trying his best. If it were me, I definitely wouldn’t have even thought of i18n, yet he’s actually maintaining so many languages at the same time. I think by doing this, we’re also easing some of the burden for Hmbown and people like him. Language barriers are real. I’ve heard that many foreigners get dizzy just looking at Chinese characters, and maybe Hmbown bro also finds our Chinese square characters a little hard to understand. That being the case, let’s form a volunteer Chinese localization group! Let’s help him, and help CodeWhale—this big whale—so that we can be more efficient. Everyone who wants to contribute to CodeWhale but feels at a loss about where to start is welcome—the path is right here! |

Eh, maybe I should raise an issue since few people come here. @Hmbown, may I? |
Uh oh!

CodeWhale is a large project with a huge amount of documentation. Although we later used LLMs to help translate it, translating those documents into Chinese still cost me far too much time and energy. Going forward, when the English docs are updated, the Chinese docs should be synced as well. However, everyone knows the quality of AI-translated technical documentation—it only reaches the level of “readable.” Whether it’s actually easy to read is another matter entirely.
It’s not just CodeWhale. Many other open-source projects face the same predicament. I hope to take the lead in forming a small Chinese localization group, powered by love rather than money, to translate and keep up with open-source English or Japanese projects, so that more Simplified Chinese-speaking users can learn about them. This would not only keep these excellent projects from being buried and forgotten, but also lower the barrier to entry for many of them.
If you’re interested in joining this group, please leave a comment under this Discussion. I’ll then create a QQ group and invite everyone in. Together, we can work to break down language barriers.
Long live open-source! Long live collaboration! Long live sharing! Long live knowledge!
