Since we are using tar packages for fonts, it would be great if we could switch to packages instead. This will help to get latest updates and fixes.

Okay. But take note some of the tar files here have extra font inside the folder. That's why we need to extract them, list the needed font and find equivalent fonts.

BTW are fonts from extra ? or in AUR? This matters too for compatibility. If we want to support example, debian.

For now we can just download the latest version of the fonts. The ones we are using are around 1 year older versions. About the aur versions, we can come back to this discussion after we are done

Btw instead of packages, installing from nerdfonts is easier:

Bonus: You dont need material design icons. Nerd fonts have them baked in

We can have restore_fnt.sh to curl for this. I think we can easily do it.

Also question, so when we download from nerdfonts the fonts there are patched right to have glyph support?

yeah. They have glyph support out of the box. so i think its better to use nerdfont counterpart compared to the regular
