Outline of the training school

Three-dimensional cryo-electron microscopy is a technique that allows direct visualization of biological macromolecules close to their native state. Not surprisingly, the high impact of this technique in the structural biology field is highly correlated with the development of new image processing algorithms, among other aspects. Many technical publications are available describing this new developments but, clearly, there are no substitute for hands-on training.

This course is aimed toPhD students and postdocs using cryo EM images for structural analysis. The objective of the course is to introduce the principles and practical aspects of image processing in transmission electron microscopy. The course will focus on processing of single particle images.

Registration

The course fee is 350 euro, which includes accommodation and all meals during the course.

Additionally, there are 5 travel grants for attendees from Instruct countries (http://www.structuralbiology.eu/resources/countries ), for up to 500 euro, to cover airplane tickets (200 euro) and reduced registration fee (300 euro).

Registration fee for those living in Madrid 250 euro.

Please, bring a laptop or alternatively pair up with another particpant who has a laptop. Wireless connection will come handy.

Although it is not compulsory, participants are recommended to download the tutorial data and install the Xmipp software:
