Current process
1. User without RCRC domain needs to set 2 existing GO users, who can confirm the users identity.
2. Confirmation request emails are sent out to the 2 GO users
3. When both confirms, the user account gets activated
Issue with the current process
1. Many new users don't know any GO users, or even they know them, it is not public, who are the users, so the new users can have difficulties to nominate users to confirm the account
2. Account approvers may not do the confirmation, so the new account doesn't get activated
Proposed process
New user account confirmations would be done by Regional IM officers on the GO Admin page or by clicking on a button in the notification email.
On the user registration form, an additional text box would appear to share relevant information for the validation (Please justify that you are part of RCRC.)
Confirmation request emails would be directly sent to Regional IMs (regional admins) based on the country of the new user. *
After the Regional admin confirmation, the account becomes active.*
We should be able to set a different person than the Regional IM to validate the accounts
UI:
• Registration form update: remove the name, email entry option for the 2 persons, who confirms
• Add textbox for non-RCRC email users (Please justify that you are part of RCRC Movement.)
Admin page:
• Need to maintain list of regional admins, who can validate accounts. This might be a new page where region and user (regional admin) links can be maintained.
• Pending user list - could contain list of pending user names, region, date of creation. Clicking on the user name could show details of user, including justification. Regional admins could verify accounts here
Notification emails:
• To Regional admins when a new account is created and need to be validated.
• To the User when the registration form submitted - to inform about the validation process
• Reminder email to Regional admins when pending approval for 3 days
Expected benefit
The process of account confirmation could be faster, we could avoid having pending validations and account activations.
Expected amount of requests
Based on the last 6 month, we expect 10-20 requests globally each month.
