In #2021 (comment) @azaroth42 says "In IIIF we have a design principle that says not to have multiple representations served from a single URI" and that was my thinking too - but I can't find such a principle in https://iiif.io/api/annex/notes/design_principles/
The cookbook recipe https://iiif.io/api/cookbook/recipe/0057-publishing-v2-and-v3/ is not an example of this - it returns two different representations from the same URL, with no redirects.
