Should Presentation have Protocol?

Seems useful, but is there a real use case yet? Defer until there is one.

Now that there's more crossovers (service, viewing_hint, etc) is it worth reconsidering this?
It's not backwards incompatible so we can continue to defer, but want to point it out.

+1 to defer. It's a good idea for the sake of consistency, but I think in this case I think I'd care more about different versions of the API than whether this was IIIF or ?.
