ODK ontology directory structure

Is there any guidance on what the desired ontology directory structure is for ODK now? I can see #1250, but when I look at the template linked in the readme I don' see all the relevant directories (e.g., src/ontology/components). I also haven't been able to find the desired layout in other ODK documentation.

The directory structure for core aspects like patterns, components, imports, mappings, (i think to some extent templates) is provided by the ODK. So if you add any of these to your ODK config file and run ./run.sh update_repo it will create these directories! Is this what you are asking?

Thanks for the explanation, that helps, but isn't exactly what I was thinking. What I’m looking for is whether there are resources that show how the core ODK aspects are expected to be structured, so that we know what to add to the ODK config file in the first place. Our repository was migrated over to the ODK and we’ve had to dig around quite a bit to infer the expected directory structure and which config entries are needed so that things can be generated and used correctly.

The README.md says:

Manually compare your ontology against the templates folder and make necessary adjustments

However, the templates folder doesn’t seem to demonstrate things like:

• the directory structure for patterns, components, (ROBOT) templates, and mappings
• or how those pieces are expected to interoperate with the ODK config

Is there anywhere that provides an overview or guidance on the expected ODK directory layout and how these parts fit together conceptually and operationally? Even a high-level reference or example repo would be really helpful.
