Cannot install ipython on Windows 7 64-bit

I have installed ActiveState's ActivePython but when I tried to install ipython on Windows 7 64-bit, I received the error:
"No Python installation found in the registry".

That doesn't sound like an IPython issue, it sounds like your Python install isn't correct. You might try using an egg / easy_install ipython instead of the .exe.

Actually the issue is with 64-bit installs of python not registering itself correctly. It has been discussed here
