Mermaid is a popular markdown language which renders graphs and diagrams. It's particularly useful for the developers' wiki as it will provide a means of adding diagrams to wiki pages, without the need to create binary image files (png etc.) and paste them in, making for easier editing.

If we add mermaid_d3_zoom = True in conf.py that allows zoom/pan in all generated diagrams - that seems generally useful, should we enable that?
