Cannot determine MAC address on Linux

Steps

1. Select a project.
2. Click iFL button.

Or

1. Go to Eclipse's preferences.
2. Click on iFL Preferences.

Expected behavior

The iFL session should start or the preferences pages should be displayed.

The problem occurred in a VM environment so it is probably best to test it on a virtual machine (e.g.: using VirtualBox).
The VM must have internet access.
