@malfallah malfallah released this 13 Oct 04:22

First public release of BLE Remote Bridge: one Bluetooth LE remote (TCL RC902V) controlling a TV and a Chromecast through an ESP32-C3, with a per-button mapping table.

Highlights

  • Per-button routing: send each key to the TV, the Chromecast, both, or neither. Change it live from the Serial Monitor; changes are saved in flash.
  • Input session: the remote's Input key hands the arrows, OK and Back to the TV until OK is pressed or 5 s pass, then gives them back to the Chromecast.
  • Switch key: toggles "TV mode" for the arrows, OK and Back, with an automatic return after 60 s.
  • Fix for a NimBLE-Arduino 2.5.1 bug that crashed the ESP32 when the third device connected (patch included).

Download

  • NimBLE-Arduino-2.5.1-bridgefix.zip: the patched library the firmware requires. Delete any existing NimBLE-Arduino folder from your Arduino libraries folder and unzip this one there. Or patch the stock library yourself: see library-patch/README.md.

Requirements

  • ESP32-C3 board (developed on an ESP32-C3 SuperMini)
  • Arduino core: esp32 by Espressif Systems 3.3.12
  • NimBLE-Arduino 2.5.1 with the patch

Status

This is a beta. Pairing the remote, TV and Chromecast and forwarding keys to the TV have been verified on hardware. Some items are not yet confirmed, including keys arriving at the Chromecast, reconnecting after the remote sleeps, and the new Input/switch keys. See docs/testing.md for the full list.

Known limitations

  • Voice audio is not relayed (the mic key press is).
  • Power is infrared and never reaches the bridge.
  • Vendor-specific keys may do nothing on a Chromecast.
