@github-actions github-actions released this 25 Apr 06:10

⚠️ YANKED — DO NOT INSTALL. This release shipped a broken Windows
NSIS / Linux .deb / .rpm installer that contained only the scan_cli
sidecar diagnostic binary instead of the GUI. Symptom: installer
succeeds but launching produces a flash of console window and no GUI.
Use v0.2.11 or later. Forensic write-up:

Critical bug fix. Highly recommended for any user not in UTC.

What was wrong

Between local 00:00 and ~09:00 (in UTC+ timezones — JST, CST, KST, AET, IST, etc.), the Overview's "Today" cards showed 0 even when you'd been actively using Claude Code or Codex that morning. The 7-day chart's last bar was empty. Daily-budget alerts couldn't fire. The 2-minute background sync silently uploaded 0 metric rows for today.

The cause: per-event day classification is in local time, but the scan-range filter was anchored on UTC. When local date had advanced past UTC date, today's events got tagged with the local date and then dropped because the filter range only ran through the UTC date.

Who's affected

  • JST users (UTC+9) — broken 9 hours/day (00:00–09:00 local)
  • AET (UTC+10/11) — 10–11 hours/day
  • IST (UTC+5:30) — ~5.5 hours/day
  • CET (UTC+1/2) — 1–2 hours/day
  • PST / EST and other UTC− zones — also affected, in the evening (the local day stays "ahead" of UTC after a certain hour)
  • Strict UTC users — never affected (lucky)

Fix

Anchor today, since, until_key, AND today_key all on chrono::Local::now() so they share the same reference frame as parse_day_key_local. One-line change at scanner.rs:87, plus 4 new regression tests.

42 / 42 Rust tests pass (was 38).

Discovered by

Independent code review by Codex (gpt-5.4) immediately after v0.2.1 shipped. The review's full output was a single line:

scanner.rs:87 local-vs-UTC day filtering. I would not ship that to non-UTC users.

Worth its weight.
