Introducing myself and video link to completion of the first excercise

Hi JdeRobot Team,

My name is Rishit Modi, a second-year Computer Engineering student at VJTI, Mumbai. I have been exploring the JdeRobot organization and found the Robotics Academy platform particularly impressive for hands-on robotics learning.

Based on insights from the community discussion forums, starting with the Academy exercises seemed like the best approach. The environment has been successfully set up locally using Docker, and the Follow Line exercise has been completed.

I really enjoyed the nature of the first exercise and will do the obstacle avoidance exercise next. I’m eager to learn more about the project and exercises and eventually contribute to the organization.

Aside from completing more exercises, are there specific areas or beginner-friendly issues you recommend I look into next to better understand the codebase?

Nice solution for the FollowLine exercise :-)

The best way to start contributing to RoboticsAcademy is just using it. Take a look at the RoboticsAcademy User Guide. Share here the demo videos of your working solutions and your questions. Currently betatesting of all the exercises is the best way of contributing. Feel free to report here your feedback as betatester of the exercises you have played with.

For becoming a RA developer, just take a look at RA instructions for developers.

I’ve just completed the Obstacle Avoidance exercise and wanted to share the results with you all.

In this exercise, I spent a lot of time fine-tuning the balance between the attractive and repulsive forces. It was a great lesson in handling edge cases where the robot would lose its orientation near corners. Toward the end of the video, I’ve included a brief breakdown of these challenges and how I adjusted the logic to overcome them.

While reviewing the Robotics Academy user guide, I noticed that the UI layout shown in the documentation screenshots differs from the current interface used in the exercises. This didn’t cause major issues, but it can be a bit confusing for first-time users who are trying to follow the guide step by step.

I was wondering if there’s any way for users to contribute to updating the documentation. I’d be happy to help in any way if community contributions are welcome.

We are currently working on updating all of the documentation images and videos, so don't worry about that. It will be done, but it does take a lot of time, because we have just finished the new frontend

Makes total sense, the new interface is in itself a big step forward.
