Feature request: Disable (toggle) auto-update

To center user privacy, users should have the option to turn off auto-update. This may better protect against spyware sneaking in. Additional protections could separately be considered/developed, but this seems like a low-hanging fruit! Happy to PR btw 👀 Cheers for the great software.
