Request Cfid = Empty.String with allot of Antivirus software

It seems that with allot of Antivirus software the GetCfid()return a empty string when requesting.

This result in a being unable to connect to spotify.

This will be the error message: The server committed a protocol violation. Section=ResponseStatusLine

I had Bitdefender 2015 installed and i never found any problem, until i released a new version of my application a few days ago with the new implemented spotify function.

Manny people reported me that they couldn't connect to spotify ... so eventually i got connected with a client trough teamviewer ... and did research on hes machine.

It turned out that on hes machine when AVG was enable he could not connect, when it was disabled he could connect.

Few hours later i installed the latest version of Bitdefender 2016 and had the exact same problem.

I tested this with My own app, the Spotify example app and an app GetSpotify (someone else has written) with the same library.

I need to mention that i tried (for testing purpose) to bring Connect() into a loop. After x times it will eventually will get a Cfid but the exception ´The server committed a protocol violation. Section=ResponseStatusLine` will get spammed continuously as the application continues.

And get bad responses most of the time from the GetStatus () all over the place as it is the same query.

Update:

The client AVG is the latest as of today. (disabling LinkScanner Surfshield inside AVG) will let him connect.

On my own end with Bitdefender 2016 - I need to un-install the antivirus to be able to connect like normal and run without the exception.

Hooking up Fiddler will give the next exception:

The Server did not return properly formatted HTTP Headers. Maybe missing 
altogether (e.g. HTTP/0.9), maybe only \r\r instead of \r\n\r\n?

The response header when failing :

HTTP/1.0 200 This buggy server did not return headers

The response header in a successful manner:

HTTP/1.1 200 OK

Going through all this, it seems like it's spotify-servers fault, so I think there is not much we can do about it.

Sadly this will be true i guess.

As long as spotify doesn't fix the server, it will be a bad idea to deploy an application with the library as it will only work on 50% (rough estimated) of peoples machines.

The cause is definitely a antivirus/firewall that is installed.

Mh, the only thing you could do is leaving a note in the README or something :/
But we have to note: The API is unofficial and only used internally, so we shouldn't have a lot of expectations to it.

Hi, I'm just trying your sample app and I'm experiencing the same problem with AVG. I disabled it and the app now connects, but it still doesn't function correctly. Strangley only the Previous & Skip buttons work. Play & Pause do not and there's no info about what is being played.

Any ideas?

@swin66 Sorry for the late response, next time please open a new issue for your specific problem.

Try restarting Spotify and the WebHelper, this problem sometimes occurs.
