And RE the destination dir that has the older build of QS;
To have QS load at SU, can I create a shortcut to that exe & drop it in the SU folder?
Or must I use the built-in "load at SU" feature?

Its not a lag, but intentional old version release to test komac updating. I'll sync it someday.

GH release and any package manager release provides the same files. You can replace them as you wish. Keep in mind that it may break auto-updating or version report.

I'm trying to overwrite the winget install/env with the zip I downloaded from GitHub.
Pretty clear according to the screenshots...

Nvm, uninstalled winget pkg, just dropped the zip in my port.base dir. Just a pita, as I can't easily update portables

You can change winget installation dir, i.e. where it downloads updates and new apps.

So if we want auto-update, what do you recommend: winget, scoop, or other?

As a developer, I only liked Chocolatey. As a user, I like Scoop and Choco. One of them lets you choose which version to install, but I forgot which one...
