Inserted image blinking because of unknown reasons after zooming in (macOS) #1944

I am experiencing an issue with image transparency in Klayout version 0.29.8 on MacOS Sonoma 14.6.1. When I insert an image from an external file (JPEG, TIF, etc.), the transparency of the image changes unexpectedly when I zoom in. The image becomes almost entirely transparent, with only dark areas visible. This issue also occurs sometimes when I move my mouse cursor away from the image.

To replicate the issue:

  1. Insert an image from an external file.
  2. Zoom in on the image.
  3. Observe the change in transparency.

Additionally, I’ve noticed that if I use the ruler tool to make a measurement, the transparency issue does not occur until I zoom in to a greater extent. This behavior is not observed on my Windows computer running the same version of Klayout.

I have attached a video demonstrating the issue. Please note that before using the ruler, I did not click on the mouse.

I am unsure whether this is an intended feature or a software bug. It is quite problematic for my workflow, and I would appreciate any guidance on how to disable this behavior or if it could be fixed in a future update.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.
