Visual clarity for the panels

Can we add something to each panel to make it very clear what is its purpose? I was thinking adding a thin bar on top or to the side of the panels saying "Project Tree View" and "Document Contents":

Actually it was meant to be a tree in the left and the rest of the page as the contents of what is selected on this tree, kind of like files explorer. Maybe a change in the UX would reach that goal without labels?
Also, calling the right panel "Document contents" is a bit limiting, maybe a broader name?

Yes, its worth keeping it as simple as possible. I am not sure though how to make the panels' purpose clearer. Maybe an information icon you can hover that explains what you see on each panel?
