Commands
This page documents all commands available in Handoff Relay.
All Handoff Relay commands are restricted to the original handoff creator.
The first player to create or configure a handoff world becomes the handoff creator and is the only player permitted to change handoff settings.
Sets the duration of future player turns.
/handoff time <minutes>
/handoff time 60
Sets all future handoff turns to 60 minutes.
- Minimum: 1 minute
- Maximum: 240 minutes
- Does not affect the currently active timer
- Applies to future handoff participants
- Persists between world transfers
Sets the total number of expected participants.
/handoff players <count>
/handoff players 10
Displays:
You are Player 1 of 10.
As handoffs occur, player numbers automatically increase.
Player 1 of 10
Player 2 of 10
Player 3 of 10
...
- Minimum: 1 player
- Maximum: 999 players
- Reconnecting players do not increment the player number
- Only successful handoffs increment the player number
- Player numbering starts at Player 1
Allows one approved spectator account.
/handoff spectator <playername>
/handoff spectator EventObserver
When the approved account joins:
- Spectator mode is automatically applied
- The spectator does not consume a handoff slot
- The spectator bypasses active-player restrictions
- The spectator cannot participate in handoff progression
- Only one spectator account is supported
- Spectator access persists between world transfers
A common setup for a handoff event:
/handoff time 60
/handoff players 10
/handoff spectator EventObserver
This creates:
- 60 minute turns
- 10 participants
- 1 approved spectator account
- Player 1 joins the world.
- The handoff timer starts.
- Player 1 plays until the timer expires.
- Player 1 is automatically disconnected.
- Player 1 cannot continue their turn.
- Player 2 joins the world.
- Player 2 inherits the saved player state.
- A fresh timer begins.
- Progress continues until all participants have played.
Handoff Relay preserves:
- Inventory contents
- Armour
- Offhand item
- Ender chest contents
- Health
- Hunger
- Saturation
- Experience levels
- Experience progress
- Active potion effects
- Dimension
- Player location
- Respawn position
- Selected hotbar slot
- Timer state
Handoff Relay includes built-in integrity protections to preserve fair gameplay.
Features include:
- Single active-player enforcement
- Expired player lockout
- Dangerous command blocking
- Anti-creative enforcement
- Anti-flight enforcement
- LAN cheat escalation detection
- Backup state recovery
- Integrity lock protection
If tampering is detected, the handoff session may be locked to protect progression continuity.
You are not the original handoff creator for the current world.
Only the creator may modify handoff settings.
Your allocated turn has ended and the handoff has already been passed to the next participant.
Only one active player may participate in a handoff session at a time.
Verify that the spectator name exactly matches the player name configured with:
/handoff spectator <playername>
Handoff Relay may require a newer Fabric Loader version than the one currently installed.
If you receive a Fabric Loader update prompt:
- Download the latest Fabric Loader.
- Reinstall or update your Fabric profile.
- Launch Minecraft again.
Verify:
- Minecraft version matches the supported version.
- Fabric Loader is up to date.
- Fabric API is installed.
