Trouble setting text properties with

I have created a vtk pipeline to visualize some FE data (unstructured grid). I am getting quite desperate with
setting text properties in general. So far I have had no lock with setting any text properties in things such
as the scalar bar or vtkCubeAxesActor.

Calls such as thse seem to have no effect

scalarBarActor.SetLabelFormat("%2.1f")
cube_axes.SetXLabelFormat("%1.1e")
cube_axes.SetXAxesLabelProperty(singleLineTextProp)

This is my trame setup

server = get_server(client_type = "vue2")
ctrl = server.controller

with VAppLayout(server) as layout:
with layout.root:
with vuetify.VContainer(
fluid=True,
classes="pa-0 fill-height",
):
view = vtk.VtkLocalView(renderWindow)

I don't want to jump into any conclusions
After looking around for quite some time I wonder if this issue is somewhat related to this

Anyways, the problem (even if it is related to the link above) is still not solved.

I think the problem may be that VTKjs is not up to par to C++ VTK when it comes to plots, axis, etc.
If you use remote rendering (vtk.VtkRemoteView instead of vtk.VtkLocalView) does it work as expected?

Excuse my lack of experience here but I tried this as suggested by you:

At this point I have control over some of the text properties. For example I cannot change font sizes, the font switches to arial (it is not areal) but then the label font is much larger than all other fonts. I can switch the scalar bar label to be vertical but some other things are still not working. Also, I get two render windows, one on the browser and one separate window called "Visualization Toolkit - OpenGL". Please let me know if you want me to try some things out. I really want to make this work for a critical demo.

VtkRemoteView is indeed the way to go. Your remaining issue is just with VTK at that point not the mismatch capabilities between VTK and vtk.js.

To prevent the second window to show, you can set it to be OffScreen like here

Then, if you must leverage the rendering within the browser, you could move to trame-vtklocal once everything is rendering/working the way you want.

I have tried:
a) vtkLocalView -----> has issues with setting text properties (i.e. mismatch with VTK.js as you indicated)
b) vtkRemoteView -----> mismatch issues are gone but at the cost of significant performance hits (lagged response to pan/zoom/rotate)
c) vtkRemoteLocalView -----> mismatch issues are gone but at the cost of significant performance hits

does this make sense?
Is there a way to get the mismatch issues eliminated and retain the performance?
When you mentioned trame-vtk, am I write to say that this is an example of it: https://github.com/Kitware/trame-vtklocal/blob/master/examples/vtk/cone.py ?

I am going to perform some basic performance tests now.

PS: when running the script (using trame-vtk) approach I get some errors like this:

JS Error => TypeError: Cannot set properties of undefined (setting '_vtklocalview_1')

Just to clarify, when you say that you are using trame-vtk, do you mean that you are using trame-vtklocal? trame-vtk and trame-vtklocal are 2 independent repositories. trame-vtklocal use wasm to perform local rendering of a vtk scene defined on the server side.

Does this mean that the rendering happens on the (browser end) or on the server end?
