Can't add craft recipe with 'minecraft:barrier' as input

When add a craft recipe with 'minecraft:barrier' as input, it turn to empty slot. All other items are working properly. It seems that 'minecraft:barrier' has been specially handled in code, same to 'minecraft:air'. It's so stupid, barrier should be a normal item.

Just not sure on the reasoning.

Might be because recipe viewer mods (I think it's EMI or JEI that does it, or both) shows the barrier icon for things like "ingredient does not exist" or "tag entry is missing" and all that
