Important
The Kursal app is not currently released. It is estimated to release around August 2026.
You can subscribe to our mailing list to be notified when Kursal releases.
Kursal is a peer-to-peer, end-to-end encrypted messaging platform. No servers, no tracking. Just your private communications.
If you want to read a more technical description of Kursal, check out our Whitepaper!
If the above whitepaper link does not work, view it here.
Unlike traditional messaging apps, Kursal is fully decentralized and does not rely on central servers or on trust. This means:
- No Central Server: No single point of failure, censorship, or control.
- End-to-End Encrypted: Messages are encrypted on your device and only decrypted by the recipient.
- Resilient Network: To take the Kursal network down, you'd have to take each relay down instead of one central server.
Warning
This software has not been independently audited. Security vulnerabilities may exist.
We have a lot of exciting features in mind. Some of which are very hard for a small team like us to implement. We'll still do our best!
Here's a list of features we'd like to implement, which you can also find on our TODO list:
- Offline messaging: Due to it's decentralization, offline messaging can only be achieved by adding public "mailbox" nodes that would store encrypted messages while the receiver is offline.
- Groups: A way to chat with multiple people at a time.
- Broadcast channels: Subscribe to community run broadcasting channels (like news).
