✨ What is Kursal?

Kursal is a peer-to-peer, end-to-end encrypted messaging platform. No servers, no tracking. Just your private communications.

If you want to read a more technical description of Kursal, check out our Whitepaper!

If the above whitepaper link does not work, view it here.

🤔 Why use Kursal?

Unlike traditional messaging apps, Kursal is fully decentralized and does not rely on central servers or on trust. This means:

  • No Central Server: No single point of failure, censorship, or control.
  • End-to-End Encrypted: Messages are encrypted on your device and only decrypted by the recipient.
  • Resilient Network: To take the Kursal network down, you'd have to take each relay down instead of one central server.

Warning

This software has not been independently audited. Security vulnerabilities may exist.

📚 Future Enhancements

We have a lot of exciting features in mind. Some of which are very hard for a small team like us to implement. We'll still do our best!

Here's a list of features we'd like to implement, which you can also find on our TODO list:

  • Offline messaging: Due to it's decentralization, offline messaging can only be achieved by adding public "mailbox" nodes that would store encrypted messages while the receiver is offline.
  • Groups: A way to chat with multiple people at a time.
  • Broadcast channels: Subscribe to community run broadcasting channels (like news).
