Support for LI-USB30-AR0231-GMSL-R7-120H?

Hi,

I have the LI-USB30-AR0231-GMSL-R7-120H camera, I can get some frames out of the camera but with a lot of noise and weird colors. Is AR0231 RCCB Sensor supposed to work?

Any help or direction for further looking would be much appreciated!

Hi,
this camera should work.

1. When did this capture shot? Does the streaming look like that all the time? Have you changed any sensor register setting(VTS, HTS, exposure) that would mess up the sensor MIPI timing?
2. check USB3, coax cable,12V connectivity. Make sure they are well connected.
3. In camera tool, please choose sensor datatype: RAW12, raw camera pixel format "RGGB"(or play around with pixel format and get the right pixel order for debayering)
4. Tell me the firmware revision

Hi,

1. Stream looks like this constantly. We have not changed any setting and are working with factory default options.
2. Tried 2 different USB and coax cables. Camera is PoC, I dont see any option to add external 12V power supply, even though I heard this from LI a few times. Where should that 12V be connected??? Could it be that the Serializer Board does not get enough power over coax and that causes these issues?
3. I chose both RAW12 and RGGB, thats how that screenshot above was taken.
4. In LI's Camera Tool it says FW_Revision 10. In that program, we get similar Pictures as above (if anything at all)

We have 2 cameras and tested both. Same results.

Hi,

can you tell me when did you buy these cameras? The FW revision you provided looks really old...
This camera streaming problem might be 1. firmware initialization time being too long 2. hardware damage. Most likely it wouldn't be the camera tool's fault.
What is your power on process? (first coax then USB3, and wait several second before running the platform to wait the initialization done)
Can you try one Leopard camera at a time(don't connect two same USB3 cameras to your computer at the same time)?
Have you tried with other platform software like our windows camera tool. Does it have the same effect?

We bought the cameras just a few weeks back from Mouser Electronics. How do I get the latest Firmware installed?

We power everything with 5V with USB Power supply and PoC. LI support says GMSL version does not need external power supply, only GMSL2 Version needs external 12V. We have the GMSL version.

Since both cameras are showing the same output, I do not think it is a hardware damage. And yes, we only run one cam at a time.

Windows Camera Tool gives this greenish YUY2-Wrapped RAW12 Output the LI support was telling me about, but with a framerate of about 0.5 fps, if anything at all.

it is likely for the camera you have, the firmware is old and has stability issue. Do you have a email address I can email to so that I will send you the firmware update tool and new firmware binary.

Hi,
the firmware update is put in this link. I tested on linux camera tool and got stable output. This AR0231 GMSL1 instability has been fixed for months. It might be Mouser's stock is quite old. Sorry for the inconvenience.

I will write a file wrapper(img->lif) under linux soon for firmware update, so far it only support img file updates. So you couldn't use that this time.

I updated the code on loading .lif file. You can use ./li_firmware_updates/firmware.sh update_firmware cyfxuvc_rev1327.lif to update the firmware now

When trying to update I get:
waitting for the camera. /etc/cyusb.conf file not found. Exiting Error opening library

what do I need cyusb for? Should I have that installed?

With Windows Update Tool, seems not to work either. Waited for about an hour to finish the update, no result...should it seriously take that long for a firmware update?

can you do a lsusb and show me the output.
It seems that you haven't erase the firmware of your current camera.

Working now, Camera Tool for Windows is not working properly. Update Tool crashes when erasing firmware, after 2 or 3 trials it somehow worked.

Hi team,
I recently purchased the LI-USB30-AR0231-GMSL-R7-120H cameras with firmware version 1454 and Hardware revision 0102. I am facing similar challenge with the Windows Camera tool but working fine in the Linux Camera tool.
Also can someone help me with the right process to convert the raw frames to rgb frames? I am using opencv and Gstreamer.
