First of all, thank you for this project! It works great and has been extremely useful for monitoring and controlling Deye inverters via ESPHome and Home Assistant.
I’d like to propose an idea / enhancement related to Grid Protection / Grid Setting parameters (voltage & frequency limits), which are currently configurable only from the inverter LCD but are not exposed in this project.
I'm referring to parameters such as:
-Over Voltage / Under Voltage
-Over Frequency / Under Frequency
-Multi-stage limits (HV1 / HV2 / LV1 / LV2 / LV3)
-Associated trip times (ride-through timers)
My use case (UPS-style operation):
-When grid voltage drops below ~204 V, I intentionally switch to energy storage.
-When grid voltage recovers above the threshold, I switch back to GRID.
This works very well as long as the battery has enough SoC.
In some scenarios (e.g. long grid undervoltage events), battery SoC may drop too low (e.g. <30%). In that case, it is better to accept lower grid voltage (e.g. 195–200 V) than to completely lose power when the energy storage is depleted.
So the desired behavior is:
-Normal operation: strict LV limits → switch to battery early
-Low battery SoC: automatically relax LV thresholds → stay on GRID longer
This logic will be:
-implemented initially in Home Assistant automations (for now)
-later possibly moved directly into ESPHome (if it possible)
But for that to be possible, the grid protection parameters must be add ESPHome entities, like:
-Grid Over/Under Voltage
-Grid Over/Under Frequency
-HV/LV/HF/LF thresholds (multi-stage)
-Corresponding time delays (ride-through timers)
Based on the available records, I have prepared a new YAML (grid_protection.yaml) that I will be testing. But could it be part of this project? What do you think about that?
