BYOM is mentioned a bunch of times in PRs and documentation, but isn't explained anywhere. I assume it means "bring your own machine"?

Yep, BYOM = “Bring Your Own Machine.”

Given that this is a self-hosted version of the code interpreter, it presumes that you're providing your own VM/computer.
