Thanks for sharing Monokai Pro (CE), @joseph-krause-modalai! Monokai Pro is a commercial theme, and its Community Edition terms require a free, open-source package published through Monokai's own template, which a theme inside our app's gallery cannot meet, so we will not add it to privacynotes.app/themes. Anybody can still use it by pasting the code into Settings > Design; the sidebar and border colors in the code above are swapped against the official palette, so use 2D2A2E,221F22,19181A,FCFCFA,C1C0C0,FFD866 for the closest match. If you make an original palette of your own, post it as a new theme and we will take another look.

Creating the GitHub page seems easy enough, is the problem that the theme inside of the app would not be "pulling" from the page itself which Monokai team would be controlling? In the case of this app the theme is just a string so there would be no "package" to download or install. Or is the problem that the theme would not be a part of the "free" app and so could be considered commercial?

The format is not the problem: a theme code is a fine “package”, and you could publish one through Monokai’s template. Two of their conditions are about where the theme lives, and our gallery cannot meet them:

• Free and non-commercial. In PrivacyNotes, community themes and pasted theme codes are part of Pro, a paid upgrade. A Monokai Pro (CE) in our gallery would be part of a paid feature.
• Monokai may take over the package. A theme on privacynotes.app/themes ships inside our app’s code, so we could not hand it over.

If you publish a CE through Monokai’s template and they accept it, that is between you and Monokai, and people can paste the code from your repository. We just will not list it ourselves. An original palette of your own is always welcome as a new theme.
