Putting a note here until I can test more. Wondering if Refined maps are introducing these issues or it's something else:

I found out about Halo Refined recently, which replaces Halo PC map files to fix textures or effects broken in the gearbox port so that the game looks like the xbox version. I was one of those kids in 2003 googling why my assault rifle wasn't shiny. The title screen halo ring texture is updated, captain keyes is updated, the transparency effects are correct and shields change color, healthpacks glow, you can actually see the bumpmapping without a flashlight.
I highly, highly recommend it, and its begs to be mentioned like chimera and dsoal. I'm not sure if it's against any rules to link to the downloads or else I would post it. I'll leave that to someone who knows, or knows how to broach the subject for the readme.
I'm using V4beta2. I was wondering if anyone else was using it and if they know about any conflicts with VR. I made it about halfway into the second level without noticing any issues. It has an xbox-like updated high res HUD that seems to work just as well as the stock one.
I read some remaining effects need CEnshine to be fixed, which is described as being Custom Edition only. So far the only thing that's clearly still broken for me is the control room big hallway glass.
https://github.com/Sledmine/censhine (I don't know which fork is best)
