Skin_Editor
The Skin Editor is the ultimate character modding tool. It allows you to interactively manipulate character parts—moving, scaling, and rotating them—all in real-time!
Figure 5.1: The Skin Editor interface in action.
To begin, simply load your .swf file using the OPEN button.
If you previously used the Reference Loader, the editor will automatically detect the injected reference and display it in the left panel. If no reference is found, a dialog box will appear asking if you want to generate a reference automatically. You should accept this—using the Skin Editor without a reference defeats its purpose!
Once you have finished making all your edits, press Save.
Warning
Saving will directly overwrite your .swf file. Ensure you haven't made critical outside changes to the file while the Skin Editor was open!
The Skin Editor is packed with powerful features to streamline your workflow:
- Undo/Redo Support: Safely revert or reapply changes.
- Snap to Grid: For precise vector alignments.
- Arrow Key Movement: Nudge pieces precisely using your keyboard.
- Sprite Highlighting: Easily identify the piece you are currently modifying.
- Reference Images: Load background images to guide your modding.
- Proportion Dummy: Compare your custom mod proportions against a standard character dummy.
- Multi-Selection: Move multiple sprites at the same time.
- Advanced Transformations: Rotate, scale, skew, and move sprites intuitively.
- Sprite Copying: Copy sprites into other sprites.
- Transform Copying: Copy transformation matrices between sprites (e.g., applying the exact same scale to all eye sprites).
Caution
This tool is currently the most "beta" module in the toolkit. Proceed with caution! It may occasionally generate errors, corrupt files, or cause unexpected behavior. Always keep backups!
