Open Settings from the menu bar: Settings → Preferences

Compression Level

Controls how hard the tool works to compress your file.

Level	Speed	Size	Best for
Fast	⚡⚡⚡	Bigger	Testing
Normal	⚡⚡	Balanced	Daily use
Max	⚡	Smallest	Archiving

Default is Normal — good balance for most people.

Verify after conversion

When enabled, OpenROM runs a checksum verification after every CHD conversion using chdman verify.

Should I enable it?

• Yes if you're archiving and want to be sure
• Skip it if you're converting a lot of files and trust your storage

Default is ON — keep it on unless you're in a hurry.

Tool Paths

By default OpenROM uses the bundled tools in assets/.

Only change these if:

• You want to use a newer version of chdman/maxcso/etc
• A bundled tool isn't working on your system

Leave them blank to use the bundled versions.

Log Files

Logs are saved automatically to:

OS	Location
Windows	%APPDATA%\OpenROM\logs\
Linux	~/.config/openrom/logs/
macOS	~/Library/Application Support/OpenROM/logs/

Useful for debugging failed conversions.
