Why MP4?

Reddit GIFs are actually video files internally, but are often delivered in extremely bloated GIF format.

The downloader now saves them as .mp4, resulting in:

• dramatically smaller file sizes
• faster downloads
• better playback compatibility

Typical reduction:

roughly 15x–20x smaller compared to the original GIF file size.

This especially helps when downloading large galleries or multiple animated posts.
