POIs not displayed (macOS)

Describe the bug

On platform macOS, neither POI symbols nor POI texts are displayed.

What have you done to circle down the problem?

• With latest released QMS 1.17.1 for macOS based on Qt5, downloaded and installed, issue does not happen.
• Issue already happens with QMS currently built for macOS from downloaded QMS 1.18.0 source.

-> Either transition from Qt5 to Qt6 or changes between QMS 1.17.1 and QMS 1.18.0 cause issue.

To Reproduce

1. Run QMS on macOS
2. Try to display POIs
3. Do not see POIs

Expected behavior

Expected POIs to get displayed.

Debug output tells (btw identical to debug output on current QMS version and on platforms without having issue), that POIs, here I tried to show accomodation POIs, are indeed recognized from POI file but not displayed:

Now I have built QMS based on

• commit 0d8827b
• Date: Thu May 15 17:16:14 2025 +0200
• [QMS-753] Eye candy for respiration rate

This is QMS 1.17.1 plus some commits in git.log.

QMS was built with Qt 6.10.2, GDAL 3.12.2, PROJ 9.7.1, Routino 3.4.3 using build procedures for macOS from QMS 1.20.
Executable identifies itself still as 1.17.1, but POIs are not displayed anymore!

Any idea for reason? Any idea where to dig?

Poi file used in screenshot is Berlin_oam.osm.poi from Berlin.PoiOld.zip.
File is verified to display pois on platforms Linux and Windows.

As a strategy I would place debug messages to see if the necessary methods are called. Next I make sure if the methods are not aborted by any conditions. Also with debug messages. If that does not hint anything, I use gdb integrated into qtcreator to step thru the crucial code sections.

I am not familiar with the POI code. This has been written by someone else. And I am not using POIs. Therefore I am not much of a help. Sorry.

The culprit is found in procedure CPoiFilePOI::draw in file src/qmapshack/poi/CPoiFilePOI.cpp.

When porting to Qt6, statement
for (quint64 poiToDrawID : qAsConst(loadedPoisByArea)[categoryID][minLonM10][minLatM10]) {
was ported to
for (quint64 poiToDrawID : std::as_const(loadedPoisByArea)[categoryID][minLonM10][minLatM10]) {
as qAsConst was called deprecated since Qt6.6 and replacement by std::as_const was recommended.

With POI selection (see screenshot above), function loadedPoisByArea[categoryID][minLonM10][minLatM10].size() returns 488 and iterator poiToDrawID should iterate through 488 items. But after porting, loop does not iterate any more on macOS .

-> std::as_const(loadedPoisByArea)[categoryID][minLonM10][minLatM10] behaves

• equally as qAsConst(loadedPoisByArea)[categoryID][minLonM10][minLatM10] with MSVC and Linux Gnu compilers
• differently as qAsConst(loadedPoisByArea)[categoryID][minLonM10][minLatM10] with macOS clang compiler

is working 😃. Note: The use of parentheses has changed compared to before.
